The Green Ingredient is a small-batch, plant-based food company rooted in community, education, and care. What began as a love for cooking and teaching grew into something deeper — a commitment to making food that truly nourishes people, both physically and emotionally.

The importance of quality ingredients and thoughtful preparation is deeply personal. The Green Ingredient was shaped during a time when food became more than nourishment — it became an act of care. Witnessing a close friend’s journey with cancer changed the way we think about what goes into our bodies and why it matters.

That experience reinforced a lifelong belief: food should be made with integrity, intention, and respect for the people who eat it.

Much of our work happens face to face. At farmers markets, in classes, and in community spaces, we meet people week after week — many of whom have become friends, students, and long-time supporters.

Teaching has always been at the heart of what we do. Whether through cooking classes, conversations at the market, or sharing simple ways to enjoy our cheeses at home, we believe education builds confidence and connection around food.

This is why our products are made in small batches, why flavor comes first, and why we choose ingredients carefully. We don’t rush the process, and we don’t make food we wouldn’t serve to our own families.
